Check enrolment eligibility

Schools for Specific Purposes (SSPs) do not have local enrolment areas like mainstream public schools. Enrolment is based on an Access Request process, which helps determine the most appropriate educational setting to meet each student’s individual learning and support needs.

Families who believe their child may be eligible are encouraged to speak with their current school, support teacher, or local Department of Education office to begin the Access Request process.

To begin an Access Request:

  1. Talk to your child’s current school – The school will help you start the Access Request process and gather the necessary information and assessments.
  2. Submit documentation – This may include medical reports, learning assessments, and any other relevant information that outlines your child’s support needs.
  3. Department panel review – A placement panel within the NSW Department of Education reviews each Access Request and recommends the most suitable educational setting.
  4. Notification and next steps – Families are informed of the outcome and guided through the next steps if placement at an SSP is recommended.

Book a tour

We warmly welcome parents and carers who are considering Caroline Chisholm School for their child to arrange a school tour.

Tours provide an opportunity to meet our dedicated staff, explore our specialised facilities, and learn more about the supportive, inclusive learning environment we provide for students with moderate to high support needs.

Need an interpreter?

The Telephone Interpreting Service allows parents and carers to connect with qualified interpreters by phoning 131 450 and requesting their language.

This free and on-demand service facilitates clear communication between parents and schools. Parents and carers can listen to instructions on using the service in their language.
